: : want to look into. At least we know that Kyle is a good guy who won't pull an equipment swapping scams on you. : : : Time to vent. : : : long story made as short as possible... A few years ago when we first found out the compression was low, we had a local(1.5 hrs. away) guy rebuild the motor. paid $3000, got the car back, motor blew next day. This happened two more times (we only paid the guy once, but he put 3 motors in the car). Finally, OVER 10 MONTHS later we get the car back. Motor was supposed to be ported with 3mm seals. About a year after that, we decide to go with the Haltech e6k, turbo upgrade, fuel system upgrade... the works. $7000+ spent at Rotary Performance in Texas (14 hours from my house). We get down there to pick up the car (one of many, many trips)and it won't hold an idle... cuts off everytime someone tries to drive it (information that would have been useful before we drove to Dallas to get it). We did manage to find out that the guy who put the 3 motors in it ripped us off and put a used stock jspec motor in the car. Finally they get the car running and we go home. A couple months go by... Car is running like shit all the while, so RP offers to tune it for free if Chris(husband) will bring it back to Texas. Two days before this trip to Texas, the clutch seizes to the flywheel. We find out that RP didn't put in the ACT 6 puck we had provided. Instead they put in a rusted 4 puck that looked like it came from a junkyard. He still went down there to get the car tuned. 14 hours down there... motor blows up on the dyno. Him and his friend were not 25 yet so they couldn't rent a car to drive home. They had to drive home in a UHaul truck (the tranny in the uhaul blew up 5 miles from our house, it had to be towed). This is around mid November: The car was taken to another reputable mazda mechanic in the Dallas area (b/c we haven't had the best experiences with rotary performance, i.e. the clutch thing). The motor is rebuilt, this time ported with 3mm seals (as far as we know). Chris flies to Dallas the day before Xmas eve to pick up the car. 4000+ more dollars. They don't get to dyno it b/c the plugs keep fouling. But it does put down like 70 more foot pounds of torque. He makes it home for Christmas, but something is wrong... the car detonates a few times, and it's not running all that great. He is told to bring it back to Dallas to have it tuned for free by a Haltech employee. Today: He is currently in Dallas. Nobody can figure out what the hell is going on. the car should be putting down ~420 but it only put down 318, less than before the motor was built. And now, the dyno is BROKEN! He has to turn around and drive the long drive home... no solutions. the car is just more f*cked up than it was before. They worked on tuning it for 8+ hours today and couldn't figure anything out. If anyone (in Texas, Arkansas, Memphis, anywhere) sees two guys in the black RX7 in my sig, pull them over and buy them a drink. I'm sure they could use it. :(
: : : And that, my friends, is a condensed version of why I HATE ROTARIES. Or at least this specific one.
